Chairwoman Stabenow Congratulates Margo Schlanger on USDA Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Nomination

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Chairwoman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, issued the following statement regarding President Joe Biden's intent to nominate Margo Schlanger to serve as Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

“I am so pleased that President Biden has nominated Michigan’s own Margo Schlanger to be USDA Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights,” said Chairwoman Stabenow. “Margo has been a leading authority on civil rights issues for decades. As a professor at the University of Michigan Law School and a top civil rights official in the Obama Administration, she will bring valuable expertise to USDA. I know Margo will be a wonderful addition to Secretary Vilsack’s team, if confirmed, and look forward to working with her.”
