Ranking Member Stabenow Statement on Forest Service Jobs Corps Announcement

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, & Forestry, issued the following statement regarding the Administration’s decision to halt their harmful proposal to shut down or transfer management of all U.S. Forest Service Civilian Conservation Job Corps Centers nationwide. Stabenow helped lead a bipartisan, bicameral group of members of Congress to urge the Administration to reverse their plan.

“After broad bipartisan objection, the Administration made the right decision to maintain the Forest Service Job Corps program. I urged the Agriculture and Labor Departments to reverse their plan to shutter or privatize all of these centers, which provide important job training for at-risk youth in rural communities.”
