Ranking Member Stabenow Statement on Agriculture Committee Vote on CFTC Chairman
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, & Forestry, today voted on the nomination of J. Christopher Giancarlo to serve as Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Members of the Senate Agriculture Committee favorably voted the nominee out of the Committee at a business meeting earlier today.
“I support the nomination of Chris Giancarlo to serve as Chairman of the CFTC. He has pledged to work on a bipartisan basis to make important improvements and finish the implementation of Dodd-Frank reforms. I look forward to working with him to continue the progress of Wall Street reform and ensure fair and transparent derivatives markets for our farmers, businesses, and consumers.”
